For Parker Jordan, Rensselaer Central High School Class of 2018 and Lilly Scholarship recipient, dreams have become a reality, and graduate-level studies are within reach because of Lilly Endowment support.
“The Lilly Scholarship allowed me to pursue avenues that would have closed to me otherwise,” said Jordan. “I was able to attend the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and study chemical engineering, which, without this scholarship, would have been too much of a financial burden.”
Lilly Scholarships Foster Personal and Professional Growth
With the help of a Lilly Scholarship, Parker began work toward a degree in engineering at Rose-Hulman. His connection with Lilly also created another community for Parker within the college. Parker joined the Lilly Scholars Networking Club at Rose-Hulman, making friends, securing summer internships in engineering, and growing in his personal and professional relationships.
Lilly Endowment Connects Community Youth to College
A Lilly Endowment Scholarship brings a college education within reach for students in our community, as Parker’s experience attests.
“Thanks to the Lilly Scholarship, my goal of earning a college degree is a reality,” said Jordan, who is also working toward a minor in chemistry. “Since the scholarship gave me both the opportunity to attend a great university and financial security, I now have the goal of pursuing graduate-level education.
“I’ve also networked with other Lilly scholars and made connections I wouldn’t have made before.”
